Agricultural Irrigation in the Rocky Mountain States

Kris Brannan

Deciding on the optimum agricultural irrigation system in the Rocky Mountain states can be a challenge. That's because there are a lot of different people telling you different things, many from out of the area.

VisintainerB & B Irrigation has been designing and installing agricultural irrigation systems in the Rocky Mountain region for over 40 years, and here's a list of what we know that you should consider:

  1. T-L Pivot Systems are the best irrigation systems we've come across. Part of the reason is that they operate using water pressure, or hydro power, so you there are no electric of fuel costs. That can save you literally thousands of dollars in a year, and tens of thousands of dollars over the life of your irrigation system.
  2. To maximize the entire breadth of your land, consider custom irrigation bridges. These bridges can turn the 10 or 20% of your land that may have been unusable into yield-producing crops. Don't let gulches or gullies get in the way of your optimum land use.
  3. Satellite Imagery is Amazingly Helpful. Even though we've been around for over 40 years, it doesn't mean that we're stuck in our ways. Using the latest technology for satellite imagery can make a big difference in designing the best agricultural irrigation system for you.
  4. Dry Rocky Mountain Air Can Hardpack Soil. Organic Fertilizers can Help. We have a wide range of sugar-based, liquid organic fertilizers that are delivered through your irrigation system. You can replace trace minerals, calcium, and use natural products to restore the soil and damage from chemical fertilizers.
  5. Flow Meters and Water Pumps are Part of the West. Most ranches in the Rocky Mountains need to maximize their irrigation system and monitor water usage. We recommend the best flow meters and water pumps to make sure your irrigation system is operating at its best capacity.
